When it comes to the holidays, a movie is always a good choice to help pass the time. When it’s “bigger” holidays, the movies are in a plenty. And this fourth of July, it was hard to choose what to see.
My neighbor hasn’t been in the best of health lately and she literally just left the hospital today but she called me for help and then we went to see The Heat. And we had a blast. The movie is hilarious and honestly, you have to watch it, even if it’s got a rate “R” status.
So a quick little reminder, may contain spoilers so read at your own risk.
And a quick storyline of the movie…
Ashburn, an FBI agent is extremely ambitious and has her eye on a promotion but she doesn’t get along with her co-workers. She is sent to Boston to find out who an elusive drug dealer is by getting to the man who is fronting for him and is told that she’ll have a good shot at the promotion if she finds the dealer. When she arrives in Boston she learns that the dealer has been eliminating his competition and taking over their operations. She learns that a dealer is Boston PD custody and goes to see him to ask him what he knows about the dealer but is warned that the cop who arrested the dealer, Mullins is very territorial. And she is not exactly sociable. When the two meet they don’t get along. When Mullins learns what Ashburn is in Boston for decides to find the dealer herself. Ahsburn is told by her boss to work with Mullins but won’t be easy because Ashburn does things by the book while Mullins does things her way.
The combination of Sandra Bullock as Ashburn and Melissa McCarthy as Mullins is one you wont soon forget. They are complete opposites in how they do the job but they form a team under an odd combination. They need to find a drug lord in Boston before his next big shipment and they even have to fight off two DEA agents that are also searching for the drug lord.
Well keep in mind that one of the DEA agents doesn’t really say much during their so called meetings. But when these two pairs do meet, oh my goodness these are the best parts of the movie! A few of my favorite lines from the movie are during these moments.
“You’re really pale are you feeling alright?” – Mullins
The pale jokes are playing up the fact that Craig (played by Dan Bakkedahl) is albino. And Mullins soon wont let him forget it.
I give this movie a 10 out of 10 rating. So if you need a break from the kids, go see this movie!
