Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Halloween Special – TV Show Review

When it comes to Pretty Little Liars the show is something you need to watch in order to keep up with what is going on from show to show. This Halloween special, wasn’t the case. The show basically left off where the last episode did in the fall finale. The problem, the entire episode didn’t focus on the story of Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Aria. Instead it focused on Caleb and the new girl Miranda, both of whom are in the new show Ravenswood.

Lets just say that the entire Halloween episode should’ve just been the first episode of Ravenswood. And yes, I understand that they were in Ravenswood but did we need to focus on the story of how Caleb and Miranda end up there. The entire bus trip crap was unnecessary and really, I mean we had more of the story for those two then what the Liars were up too.

The entire episode the Liars spent basically wandering around hoping to see Ali somewhere. They also know that “A” is looking but we really don’t pay attention to that and just keep walking around. Eventually, like any good Halloween horror movie, they split up. Oh goodie because that’s not something typical that happens. Hanna ends up finding her way into an old mansion which also is where Miranda is going to visit her “Uncle”. While in this house, Hanna gets locked in a phone booth. Miranda eventually rescues her after some odd things happen. This is Ravenswood, the entire town is odd.

“There is something seriously weird going on in this town.” – Aria

Meanwhile the other three Liars begin to search for Hanna while still trying to Ali. At this point, it’s safe to go with the fact that she’s alive. As if you need this clarified anymore by the writers. Well the Liars eventually all end up getting together after a waste of an entire night. Spencer ends up in a fight with “A” and “A” knocks her out. The girls head out for an unsuccessful night and basically give up on finding her.

When the end back to Spencer’s car, one of her tires is stuck with a knife so they can’t leave. And the spare tire ends up missing too. Although it’s unsure of when the tire is taken. Then suddenly out of no where, Ezra shows up claiming that he’s been trying to get a hold of Aria but she hasn’t been answering her phone. He gives them a lift back to Spencer’s house and leaves.

When the girls turn to head inside, they spy Red Coat watching them. The girls instantly give chase and surprise, guess what it’s Ali. She’s alive. DUH! We already knew this, no big reveal there. We also know that Ezra is “A” and it basically was confirmed with this little bit, he returns when the girls are trying to talk to Ali with Aria’s phone, he had it the whole time. And thus the show ends.

Yeah, that was the Halloween episode, and especially compared to last year can you say horrible? I get that the show wants to promote Ravenswood but you may as well have just called that Halloween special a prequel to Ravenswood. And no, I refuse to watch this show based on the fact that it did what it did with the Halloween special.

The writers of Pretty Little Liars need to start focusing on the show that got them where they are and separate Ravenswood. The original idea was to have it be a completely different story but now they are supposed to be connected by Caleb. Good job, but I’m still not gonna watch it.

Pretty Little Liars best start getting back to the storyline of Rosewoods and the 4 Liars otherwise it wont last. The show is starting to show it’s age.

However, we are left with a little food for thought by Ali, in this little line…

“I don’t have much time. It’s still not safe for me to be here. I want to come home, but you have to help me. … Remember what I told you at the hospital, Hanna?” – Ali

So who remembers what Ali told Hanna in the hospital all the way back in Season 1? Well if you don’t remember, here ya go! You can also click here!

Alison: “Did you miss me?”

Hanna: “Ali? They said you were dead.”

Alison: “Yeah, I heard that, too. But here I am.”

Hanna: “What happened to you?”

Alison: “It’s complicated, Hanna. Really complicated. Worse than algebra.”

Hanna: “What happened when you left the barn? We all wanna know.”

Alison: “You already do. The four of you combined … you remember more about that night than you think you do.”

Hanna: “Where did you go … to meet a boy? Noel?”

Alison: “Noel? Please…”

Hanna: “Please, just tell me the truth.”

Alison: “It won’t make any difference, darling.”

Hanna: “How can you say that?”

Alison: “Because I know. You think the truth is some big shiny disco ball of purity? Then go ahead and try it. Be honest, see what it gets you. Telling the truth to the wrong person at the wrong time is how I ended up where I am. Take it from me …you’re always better off with a really good lie.”

Alison: “Gotta go.”

Hanna: “Where?”

Alison: “I was so scared that you were gonna die. That’s why I came back. I didn’t care how dangerous it was, I had to see you. … You know, I really should do something about A. That b**ch is genuinely getting on my nerves.”
